“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27)
We thank God that He has prepared in advance opportunities for the young disciples of Harvest Kids to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate orphaned and vulnerable children in central Africa. All the time, they are experiencing God transform their hearts and minds into being a valuable part of God’s body in their own families, neighborhoods, schools and community. Since February of 2012, the Lord has entrusted them with assignments to meet the basic needs of children in different countries in central Africa and they continue to support the children’s ministry at the Nalidi Grace primary school in eastern Uganda that we became involved with when Harvest Kids first started. The Harvest Kids vision the Lord gave to them is summed up by their faith in believing: “We CAN make a difference!” The kids just finished sending money to refurbish the floor and walls of the room where the 22 orphan boys live and have just started raising the money for 11 steel double bunkbeds and 22 mattresses. You are welcome to come and visit the 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month from 11am-1pm. They now have $150 (enough for 2 ½ beds) and need $1,060 to have the money needed to get the beds and mattresses.
The kids continue to crush aluminum cans that our co-laborers donate and they just recycled 327 pounds today and will be wiring that money to support the Comfort Africa orphan ministry in Uganda. The ministry was founded by Suzan, the admin coordinator for Harvest Vision Ministries in Africa, and the money is distributed to families in Uganda who have opened up their flives to bring orphans into their family. The amount of money that is distributed is not even close to being enough to make up for the financial burden of adding to their family but is given as a gesture of encouragement and appreciation for their kindness and sacrifice their family is undertaken to glorify God.
We included a photo of Patrick, who along with his wife, Stella, and their family founded the Nalidi school in his “office”. 348 kindergarten to primary 7 students attend the school. 39 are orphans and another 60 stay at the school for other reasons. There is also a photo of the girl’s dormitory that the Harvest Kids helped build, the room the orphan boy’s live in, the 3 new classrooms for the kindergarten children and the “kitchen” where the meals for the 348 children and staff are prepared.
We are always praying for more co-laborers to be prompted to pray for, participate in and help financially support the various aspects of Harvest Vision Ministries to fulfill the purpose and mission of the Body of Christ: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)
