In the beginning:
“Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the third day.” (Genesis 11-13)
“Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there He put the man He had formed to work it and take care of it.” (Genesis 2:8, 15)
“So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
(Ephesians 4:11-13)
Yep, there are some of our brothers and sisters that are devoted unselfishly to helping others for the glory of God but have needs that can only be met by others that are also serving the Lord with the same heart. They could be going through trials with the hope of having their lawn mowed, a bush or tree trimmed or maybe a simple garden put in for them to grow some food that will help them in troubled times. But they aren’t physically able to or have the time, equipment, knowledge or resources. The testimony of the new testament home church fellowships is that there were no needy people among them because they worked worked together and had everything in common.
We have been praying to the Holy Spirit to bring laborers that can help those in need in our community and our vision is to ensure they are prepared with knowledge, equipment and the resources to meet those needs. That is the description of what we have been called to do. Therefore go into the harvest fields prepared. Whether it is to meet the need of a fellow believer who needs their car repaired, a home repair or whatever, the Lord will meet that need through those that are unselfishly and sacrificially living for the sake of the gospel that brings glory to the Father.
As the Body of Christ – we are about the Father’s business.
