Please join with us as we pray for the Rwandan M-23 rebels that have taken over the city of Goma in western DRCongo and the people that live there. This has been ongoing since January. Goma is the home of our coordinator, Augustine and his family and the other believers that support the outreaches that have been ongoing in the city and communities along the border of the DRCongo. The population of Goma is 3 million and 1 million are displaced from other parts of the DRCongo. Many young people live in Goma because they have the opportunity to go to school and many respond to the gospel message that has been taken to the schools throughout the city over these last few years much of it inspired by Augustine’s vision to reach the children and youth. It is estimated that over 7,000 have been killed, many wounded, homes destroyed, families displaced and lack of food and water.
We received this post this morning:
“Hello dear servants of God. Today the security situation has just worsened in Goma. The students who were in class to study have just been forcibly taken back to be recruited into military training by the M23 rebels who have been in the city for a month now. They burned where people had come to rest. They created panic everywhere. We are truly between suffering psychological shocks because of these troubles. Pray for us, especially for the population of Goma.”
“Lord Jesus, we pray that You put a hedge of protection over all those that follow You in these troubled times. That even during these uncertain times they grow closer and more secure in their salvation. We pray that as they walk through these trials, even death itself, the light of Jesus will be seen by everyone, whether they are innocent of any wrong doing or a part of the evil. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
