What an encouragement and blessing to join in rejoicing for the 1,041 new believers that came to faith in Jesus Christ in Burundi in the 10 outreaches that were held in 10 different communities in the month of August. Already, 206 of them have been baptized. Praise God! The gospel continues to advance thanks to the prayers and sacrificial giving of everyone in the Body of Christ.
I have been in contact with Pr. Martin in Africa and was again thrilled to hear how the gospel is going forth. Many Muslims and people under witchcraft are continuing to be set free. This week a new church family was started in the DRCongo and a few weeks ago, 3 witch doctors received Jesus Christ, and with the help of others believers burned their shrines and demonic symbols. Currently, a building is being constructed in Iganga, one of the most Muslim populated cities in Uganda. A team of 15 leaders from Kampala will be leaving to begin ministering from that location and starting home fellowships throughout the community. We recently sent them some seed money to start construction, but Pr. Martin informed me that they are in need of 4.2 million schillings to complete the roof ($1,100 USD). The church facility that is being built to hold the over-flow of new converts in Kayunga is in need of $850 USD to finish their roof. This is also a community which is strongly Muslim. Pr. Charles recently purchased a property adjacent to the building to fulfill a vision to start a primary school because there is no school close by. Some of the Muslim families have already agreed to allow their children to attend. The Harvest Kids here in Skagit and Snohomish County are selling sweet corn that their local farmer friend and their family have planted to help them get donations to start the building of the school. Corn is available at the Harvest Home, 9467 Pierce Lane, Sedro Woolley or at Walker Motor Works, 9430 State Ave, Marysville. We also have other believers that are helping fill orders while the corn is available. Kids helping Kids!
