USA – Harvest Kids, July 24, 2021
What a beautiful day for Harvest Kids.
We already had the garage sale open, and people were coming when we started. As usual, the first attention is to greet the Harvest Rabbits and Cats and then we were able to crush cans in the small space behind the shop.
Thanks to everyone who donates.
Mama Linda taught everyone the motions to
“Our God is an Awesome God”
Next we reviewed the history about the primary school that the kids have been raising money for in Uganda. That includes all the proceeds for the garage sale. The kids ended up with $88 which had been donated and that was combined with the last two weeks of garage sale, $2,720. That finished the money needed for the roof and they now only need $231 to finish the doors and windows, then $3,800 for the plaster and paint.
What an accomplishment for everyone helping.
After lunch, we sang Happy Birthday in English and Spanish, then had our two new Harvest Kids put their handprints on the wall.
We had a cup contest between the boys and the girls.
George shared about two runners in a world class marathon, one from Spain and another from Kenya. At the finish, the Kenyan was in the lead but got confused by the signs and thought the race was over and stopped. Ivan, the Spanish runner who was in second place realized what had happened, so he pushed, Abel, the Kenyan runner ahead of him to the finish. One of the reasons he gave for his actions was “If I had the medal, what would my mother think of it?”
We finished the afternoon talking and coloring pictures about the two blind men that cried out to Jesus for mercy. Jesus had compassion for them and stopped what He was doing and called them and at their request touched their eyes and they received their sight and followed Him.
We are so thankful for the last 8 years being
with these young disciples from our community
and for everyone that supports them.
