Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink. I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.” (Matthew 25: 35, 40). We are so thankful to everyone that prays, bakes, buys cookies, drives, brews coffee and tea and shares the love of Jesus to those travelers that stop at the rest area along the interstate. Truck drivers, people traveling to visit family and friends or going to the game or a family that is living in their car, so many times we hear them speak words of gratitude: “I really appreciate you being here.” In a world that is fast-paced and so self-centered, what a shot of encouragement that we have the opportunity to add to a fellow travelers life journey. We are always impressed with the joy of getting to spend the time serving and sharing for one of the 6-hour shifts during the 3 days at the rest area. Deepening relationships or starting new ones. Laughing, crying, playing, sharing God’s Word, praying and sharing life. Just time set apart to have our Father wrap His loving arms around us and be reminded again that, although there is not a physical rest area in this world that can give us the peace that transcends all understanding, Jesus does if we accept Him. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11: 28-29). We will be hosting the rest area the next two weekends, Oct 25-28 and Nov 1-4. Please contact Linda at 360-421-8812 if you would like to help. A great way to spend a few hours with a friend or someone in your family.
