A Word from Pastor (Papa) George

The World – Sound the Charge! – April 8, 2020

In the army of the Lord we need more men with the spirit of the little flag boy of the Civil War. During one of the raging battles, while bullets were flying everywhere and men were falling by the hundreds, the little lad forgot everything but to keep the flag before the army. In his haste he forgot the army. Finally he heard a shrill call saying, “Bring that flag back here!” He turned to see the army retreating and the commander beckoning for him to retreat with them. The lad cried out, “Bring the army up to the flag, sir!” This one sentence stirred the soul of the commander until he ordered the men to advance against the enemy. It is said that out of the seeming defeat a great victory was won.

This reminds one of the little drummer boy who was with Napoleon in one of the battles. It seemed that the army of France could not overcome; thousands were falling. Napoleon said, “Lad, can you beat a retreat?” The boy replied, “Sir, I have never learned to beat a retreat, but can beat a charge that will stir the last remains of the patriotism of the army.” The Emperor cried, “Beat a charge then, lad.” And that charge beaten from the drum was the means of the victory being won that day.

That is the spirit we must have in the work of the Lord – that we shall never know how to retreat in the face of the enemy of the kingdom of Heaven, but that we shall be able to beat a charge that will cause others to take courage and fight on until the last foe is conquered. This is the spirit of God’s heroes.

Africa – DRCongo testimonies – April 6, 2020

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words and tongue but with actions and truth.” (1 John 3:16-18)

We are so thankful  to have received this testimony from our co-laborers in the DRCongo. On March 18th, they presented the gospel to the students and teachers at the Mont Goma school. 567 people attended and 43 accepted Jesus Christ and are now secure with their eternal life.

Let me level the playing field. My wife and I have been involved in the ministry in the DRCongo and other neighboring countries for 15 years. We  know that our brothers and sisters face trials, suffering, persecution and make sacrifices every day to advance the gospel. There is the ever present threat and reality of little or no food to eat, dirty contaminated water, diseases such as typhoid and malaria with no medicine, no treatment and no hospitals, government instability and violence and the reality of constant life threatening attacks from Muslims to witchdoctors. Death is an everyday reality and companion.

God has been enlarging our territory as we witness more people coming to salvation, existing church families strengthened and new church families starting in the USA, Mexico, Central America and in central Africa. We are blessed to have been born and to live in a country in which we have the freedom to practice our religion as well as the opportunity to prosper. Harvest Vision Ministries is in partnership with men and women who suffer unbearable conditions to carry the good news of Jesus to desolate places and it is an honor to be able to support these men and women through this ministry. We need your help. You are an important and critical part of His plan and your faithfulness in providing prayer and financial support help us fulfill our God-given vision.

In Love and Service to our Savior, Lord and King, Jesus Christ,

The World – He is out of His mind – April 5, 2020

“Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so the He and His disciples were not even able to eat. When His family heard about this, they went to take charge of Him, for they said, ‘He is out of His mind. And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem (religion) said, ‘He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons He is driving out demons.” (Mark 3:20-22)

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son…” (Ro 8:29)

“Your attitude should be the same as Christ Jesus….” (Phi 2:5)

Both of these comments regarding the verses above have been made about me in these last few weeks. I’ve also been blessed to have many believers share with me that they are asking God to give them discernment about whether there concern for their health or the health of others is taken more importance than their duty to be the salt and the light.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:5-6)

“Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in Him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” (John 12:42-43)
