A Word from Pastor (Papa) George

The World – A sermon like a boat without harpoons – February 15, 2021

A sailor just off a whaling expedition asked where he could hear good preaching. On his return from the church where he had been recommended to go, a friend said, ‘You do not seem to have liked the sermon.’ ‘Not much,’ replied the gruff, old weather-beaten man, ‘it was like a ship leaving for the whale fishing, everything ship shape – anchors, cordage, sails all right – but there were no harpoons on board.’

Could not this be the charge laid at the most of our messages? They are ready for fair sailing, but we have forgotten to take our harpoons. We fish for compliments and not for men. God grant that we may carry our harpoons into the pulpit with us.

This reminds one of what a native in India said to Stanley Jones, the only man who ever refused to be a bishop in the Methodist Church. The native said that when one preached through an interpreter, should the interpreter leave off everything in the message that was not vital the average sermon would last only five minutes.

USA – Salt & Light – February 9, 2021

Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit and entrusted us to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. He then prayed to the Father, that we may be one so the whole world will know that the Father had sent Him.

We are delighted to invite you to join us at:

Salt and Light fellowship

14799 Avon Allen Rd

Mt. Vernon WA.

We recognize that many of us have fellowship on Sunday mornings and evenings, so our fellowship time is from 1-3pm and 4-6pm with a potluck in between.

Our hope is that we can come together and share testimonies of how God is working in our lives to fulfill our calling and help us build relationships with those that have been prompted to support or that have that same calling. We will not be judged by what we do – but what we were called to do.

Jesus is the head of the Church, the Holy Spirit is the worship leader and we are His body.

USA – The value of a soul – February 7, 2021

“Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it.”
Charles Spurgeon

Yes, we are joining the rejoicing of our Father and all the angels in heaven for the 692 souls that were ushered into the kingdom through the small outreaches and door to door ministry in central Africa in January. We are thankful that some of the countries are having less restrictions that will open the door for the coordinators to expand their work with different church families to include having large outdoor gatherings where they can use the sound and video equipment they have been given.

Along with that blessing is the blessing that allows each of us to pray and consider helping financially to repair or replace some of the components that are no longer working.

Normally, we have been able to take some of the equipment, that is more reliable, from the USA, but we have not had that option this last year. The cost of reliable equipment purchased in Africa is higher. They have inventoried and checked out the equipment in each location in Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, Burundi and the DRCongo and our director in central Africa is prioritizing them for us. The Lord needs the help from brothers and sisters in the USA to co-labor with His workers there.

USA – Harvest Kids – January 23, 2021

Thanks to everyone that donates cans and prays for these young people in our family that are making such a big difference in our world today. The Harvest Kids crushed aluminum cans in the cold so we can raise money to help vulnerable and orphaned children in Africa. After warming up a bit playing with the parachute, we gathered inside where it was warm and put our pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters in the collection bullet to help build another primary school. The day moved on with putting the handprints on the wall and then celebrating everyone that has a birthday around the world in January. A great time of fellowship as these young people released their own creativity on making up their own dream boards. We are so thankful that these young people are learning to be true disciples by learning it is better to give than to receive and all the “older” Harvest Kids are helping and strengthening their family relationships with one another. Much thanks to Jen who, not only organized the activities, but later spent the evening hosting the Harvest Kids girls sleepover.

The World – A lighthouse in the desert – January 23, 2021

In an Arizona desert, there is a well fifty miles from any other source of water. Within fifteen or twenty miles of it many bones lie scattered all around – bones of men and their horses that might have reached the water had it been possible to know where to find it on that featureless plain. As close as five miles stand two wagons, each with skeletons of its party huddled around it. And at the very gateway of the enclosure, a prospector was found one morning lost and dead.

Finally, an owner erected a lighthouse. He planted a tall cottonwood pole and hung a lantern upon it which was always kept lighted. Suffice it to say that no longer are bones of dead men found near the well.

The Epworth Herald says: “We shiver to think that former owners could have been willing to neglect this – to rescue perishing fellow men by so plain a means. But are you and I doing worse than that? Are we leaving our fellows in a more dreadful danger, neglecting to hold out to them the light of salvation?

USA – The fear of the Lord – January 16, 2021

Giant
One of great power, size or importance.
(Webster’s)

David came to his brothers and the Israelites were shutdown because of the “giant”.

The children of the Israelites were denied their childhood inheritance and lived 40 years in the wilderness because of the “giants” their parents would not face.

USA – The Way, the Truth, the Life – January 15, 2021

Peace. Some believe the road of kindness and good behavior will get you there. Others choose the road of doing religious things. Relying on those roads, however, leads to a dead end. There’s only one road to take to God’s eternal presence. Jesus clarified this when He said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ (John 14:6). He was revealing that He was going to die to open the way for us to enter His Father’s house – to His presence and the real life He provides for today and eternity. Skip the blocked roads that don’t lead to God’s presence. Instead, trust Jesus as Savior, for ‘whoever believes in the Son has eternal life’.

And for those who already believe in Him, rest in the way He’s provided.

Africa – Open your eyes and look to the fields they are ripe for harvest – January 9, 2021

We are looking forward to the young people that are a part of Harvest Kids being together this morning as they continue to grow in wisdom and stature as true disciples of Jesus Christ and reach out and help vulnerable children and orphans in Africa. They are sending their money to build another primary school for these children in Uganda.

We also just received photos and testimonies from our co-laborers that are supported by our Harvest Vision Ministries partners here in the USA. Pr. Augustine shared the gospel in one of the schools in the DRCongo and 100 students accepted Jesus and 21 were baptized. Pr. Titus reached out to students in a small school and village in the Namaingo District in eastern Uganda and Pr. David ministered to a school in Gulu, in north Uganda and 31 students accepted Jesus. He also ministered to a family in their home in the Nwoya District and 9 family members were saved and at an outreach in Obiya Highland in Gulu, 19 people were saved after God showed Himself through miracles of healing and deliverance.

Jesus said, “Open your eyes and look to the fields. They are ripe for the harvest.”

The World – The human ladder rescued just a babe from the flames – January 9, 2021

Years ago the parsonage at Epworth, England, was on fire. The minister thought that all the family were safe, when suddenly one of the children appeared at a window, crying to be saved. The peasants made a ladder of themselves by standing one upon the other’s shoulders, and in this way the lad was brought to safety. That boy was John Wesley. Had the ladder failed to be made, the destiny of the world would have been different.

But today there is as great a call for human ladders to reach for the souls of men as there was to reach up to the little lad in the flaming building. And the results in the eternal world will be the same as they were when the men saved the boy Wesley.

USA – This little light of mine – January 7, 2021

Even in these challenging times of our faith being tested and strengthening, God’s people continue to bring hope to those that are “broken-hearted and crushed in spirit.” Thanks to those that pray and support our co-laborers in the harvest fields around the world. Just received the testimony of 374 that accepted Jesus in 7 different outreaches in Burundi and 121 have already been baptized. Thanks to those that are reaching out to the unborn, homeless and isolated in their community. Locally, a family had their home burned down and immediately people responded to help. Standing together to support one another, but not at the expense of reaching out to the hungry, thirsty, naked, strangers, sick and in prison and orphans and widows in their distress.
