El Salvador – Preach the Word in and out of season, May 1, 2021

What a privilege in February 2020 to visit and acknowledge Pr. Sergio and Gloria as the coordinators for Harvest Vision Ministries in El Salvador. Miguel & Olivia, our coordinators for Mexico, joined with Noe, who lives in Burlington, WA and with his wife serves as our liaison to Central America, and myself traveled together.
It was wonderful to travel together and visit families of friends that live right here in Skagit Valley, Washington with us. God’s Word commands us to “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.” (2 Timothy 4:2)
None of us could have anticipated the impact of the pandemic and the importance of the “great patience and careful instruction” that would be required by each of us, including Sergio and his family, when they were almost immediately in lockdown and Sergio was not allowed to leave his home for a period of time because of his age.
But the Lord revealed how the willingness and faith of his family could continue the work.
Now, as things are starting to open up more across El Salvador, Sergio is able to travel and is currently beginning new home fellowships in Ciudad Arce a short distance from Santa Ana, working in San Salvador where he and his family live and visiting other locations.

USA – A peaceful dwelling place, May 1, 2021

We would hope this is the ultimate plan for each of us during our journey of faith in this world.

So, if that is our goal, why do many people choose not to seek counsel from those that give testimony to how that was accomplished. It could be that when they discover that is only accomplished when we seek what God wants for our home and family instead of Him giving us what we are convinced we “need”, the price becomes more than what we want to pay.

If Timothy and Titus had only received counsel from other Timothy’s and Titus’s, we wouldn’t have his letters from Paul to help us in our journey of faith. Some of the disciples, spent all of their time in the counsel of another fisherman, but that would not have got them to Pentecost. Most of us seek good counsel for our medical problems and car problems but choose to get our counsel on the most important assets in life, our relationship with God and others, with people that are struggling with those same issues. How much are we willing to give for the Isaiah 32 promise to become our reality?

USA – Salt and Light, April 30, 2021

May be an image of one or more people, people standing and indoor
May be an image of 2 people, indoor and text that says 'When go don' cry for me In my Father's arms I'll be The wounds this world left my soul Will all be healed and I'll be whole'
We all should remember when the truth of the gospel began to invade our life and shine its beautiful Light.
But do we remember our first encounter with Satan?
This Sunday the Holy Spirit will be shedding the truth about our relationship with the prince of darkness. Jesus said that in the last days’ true worshipers will worship in Spirit and in Truth. Jesus said that many ‘believers’ will choose to open God’s Word and ‘read what they believe’ instead of ‘believe what they read”.
The Salt and Light fellowship meets
every Sunday
at the
Garden of Eden family ministry
 14799 Avon Allen Rd
Mt. Vernon WA USA
1 pm fellowship starts with contemporary worship, followed by the Word, the sharing of testimonies and prayer.
We break bread together as a family from 3-4 pm and then have a second fellowship at 4 pm starting with gospel, blues and hymns, then the Word, testimonies and prayer.
We look forward to spending family time together as God’s children.
You are welcome.

USA – Harvest Kids and the Jericho walls, April 24, 2021

Many thanks for everyone that brought the kids and helped with Harvest Kids today.
Of course, the first order of business is to go and pet Hope and Dove, the Harvest Rabbits before anything else.
The kids were able to crush some of the cans that friends have donated for recycle and then put their change into the collection for helping vulnerable children in central Africa.
This is the 8th year since Harvest Kids started and Kylee painted a tree on the garage wall. It was expanded to a palm tree for Africa and a cactus for Mexico. 8 years ago we talked about someday having to expand onto the ceiling. In the bible, 7 is the number for completion and 8 is for new beginnings. Sweet! Today we are on the ceiling.
We were blessed to celebrate April birthdays, which we had two today. It is a blessing to share that we always sing Happy Birthday to everyone because many of our friends in Africa don’t really know their ‘birthday’ because they don’t know what day they were born. We just don’t ever want to leave anyone out. Lunch, Linda’s peach cobbler to celebrate birthdays and everyone received a 100 Uganda Schilling coin, about the size of a quarter and worth 3.5 cents.

Jen shared the story of Joshua and his army that were told to march around the walls of Jericho for 7 days blowing the trumpet and then on the 7th day, march again, blow the trumpet and shout and the walls would fall and they would win the victory. She shared about how difficult it was for them to keep their faith especially after the soldiers of Jericho probably starting making fun of them. After the message we had some drawings of the Jericho walls to color then adjourned outside for a game. Jen asked the kids how they could get a ping pong ball out of a red can without touching the bucket or the ball. She then poured 7 cups of water in and that was enough to float the ball out. That was when their contest began as they had to step over an obstacle, circle Jericho and go under the table to add their water to the red bucket until one of the teams saw their ball lifted out. Lot’s of fun.

That left a little time to play the M&M game. Each person in turn picks a M&M without looking and shares an event when they showed that particular emotion based on that color. Afterward the kids hooked up 6v batteries to Play Dough and plugged in LED lights of different color. A wonderful time of sharing the love of Jesus and encouraging one another. Later in the day, Armando brought Roman who was unable to come to the regular Harvest Kids and we got to spend a little time with Hope and Dove the Harvest Rabbits.

USA – Looking forward to the day of God, April 22, 2021

We are so thankful for the co-laborers that have prayed and supported the work of our co-laborers in central Africa the last 15 years and we are grateful for the hundreds of thousands that have come to faith in Jesus Christ and are even now reaching others. We have spent much time and some resources on seeking out a sustainability project that would help provide empowerment to the laborers there and the funds needed to provide the expenses needed to keep the present workers in their harvest fields. That would allow our resources to be used to branch out to the other countries in other parts of Africa and wherever else we might be led. Pr. Martin has now been given the Lord’s direction to begin a macadamia nut farming project which will fulfill that goal within the next 4 years. He is preparing to plant the first trees on some property that the ministry owns in Mukono, Uganda outside of Kampala. He is confident that there will be money available from the pineapple farm to clear and plant those trees. After seeking counsel and visiting other farms, the Lord brought him to 18 acres in the best agricultural area for the trees in central Uganda that is now available. The cost of the property is $25,000 USD and some change. We are praying that some of the local branch church families in Uganda will “adopt” an acre to help prepare and even purchase those trees. We are believing that we have co-laborers here in the USA that have the resources to help us fund the work and would ask each of you to prayerfully consider helping. Because to meet this challenge, it will require at least some gifts that are more than what we normally receive, this is not ministry as usual for us, but neither are these the days to not rise to a higher challenge.

Africa – The will to win is useless without the will to prepare, April 21, 2021

Often times we are asked whenever someone hears the testimonies of the many people that are coming to faith during the outreaches in central Africa: “How do you disciple them?”
The simple answer is: “The will to win is useless without the will to prepare.”
In August of 2019, leaders from Harvest Vision in Africa met with local pastors in the city of Masaka and began training them and their congregations on the discipling of new believers until they are in a local church fellowship.
Three months later, in November, believers from different Harvest Vision fellowships came to accompany these pastors and believers in door-to-door ministry for 5 days.
Over 8,000 people accepted Jesus and were in the care of the local pastors and believers. In January of this year, they began the same ministry with 65 pastors of local church families in the Luka District, close to Iganga.
Last week 142 believers from different Harvest Vision fellowships traveled to Luka and went door-to-door with the pastors and believers from Monday to Friday and left the 4,432 new believers to be discipled by those church families. They are preparing for the next location in June. The work of the five-fold ministry is described in Ephesians 4:11-16.
We respectfully submit to the leading of the five-fold ministry because it accomplishes the work that God has called us to do.

USA – There is a time to laugh and a time to dance, April 17, 2021

Many thanks to Aaron and the Young Republicans for hosting an opportunity for family and friends to come together and have fellowship at the Garden of Eden fellowship center in Mt. Vernon.
During these times of uncertainty it is a joy to be together and just breathe.

USA – Therefore since you are surrounded by such a cloud of witnesses, April 17, 2021

Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us that at the beginning of creation God:
Some of us remember saying these words to the person we believed in our heart was to be our life partner.
“I take you, to have and to hold, from this day forward,
for better or for worse, for richer or poorer,
in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish,
until we are parted by death,
as God is my witness,
I give you my promise.”
These are the hopeful words of our covenant relationship, but like any hope they are only proven when they are tested. We were blessed to share a lunch with eight other couples that have walked their journey of faith in God and each other through 310 years of marriage.
Together we reflect, about every joy and difficulty that any couple will encounter and even though many times the difficulties were attributed to our own poor choices, individually or corporately, we persevere through the grace of God.
Failures, individually and corporately, to live out those words 100% are not an option, they are a reality. But, we have learned that failure in itself is not fatal.
The only thing that is “fatal” is quitting.
The one truth that we have learned in walking with couples like this can be summed up by having seen that the fruit that has been produced by their living came from love and service to God and others.

Africa – For the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost, April 17, 2021

What a blessing to witness the Body of Christ being used to fulfill His purpose.
We were blessed to get the testimonies of 1,231 new believers accepting Jesus last month. One of the outreaches in central Uganda, brought 50 new believers into the kingdom and they have already started collecting money for iron sheets to begin a church fellowship in that community. Last year, the ministry expanded to Iganga, in central Uganda, where there are many of the Muslim faith and started door-to-door ministry because of the restrictions that were imposed because of the pandemic. A property was purchased and a meeting facility was constructed. This last Sunday, April 11th, a team of 135 from different branch church families, joined with a team of 7 from the Kibuli fellowship in Kampala and traveled to Iganga to spend a week joining the door to door ministry. On Wednesday, we had the opportunity to talk with Pr. Martin, the director of Harvest Vision in Africa, while he was teaching at one of the Bible schools in eastern Uganda. He told us that on Monday, when the teams came back to the facility, 725 people had accepted Jesus that day and had made a commitment to become part of a church fellowship to learn how to become true disciples. We are looking forward to Martin’s return to Kampala so we can be witness to the news about the rest of the weeks harvest of souls.
We thank everyone of our co-laborers here that provide the prayer, encouragement and financial support needed to do our part.
We would appreciate the support of anyone
being led to join us as we witness
this time of revival and great harvest.
