A Word from Pastor (Papa) George

USA – Harvest Home Fellowship, Nov 29, 2019

What a wonderful day of Thanksgiving at the Harvest Home as we began work to prepare for the Christmas parade that will be next Saturday, Dec 7th, at 4pm in Sedro Woolley. Olivia, the co-director of Harvest Vision in Mexico, and Veronica began designing and sewing costumes and Linda ordered some items that will be used to present the story of Jesus from birth to death to resurrection. John Seaman, who founded Kellilynn’s Spiritual Recovery Center, in Curlew, WA joined with us as well as other friends. We will be gathering for prayer at the Harvest Home every morning from 9-10am starting Monday, Dec 2, through Dec 7, the day of the parade. “Lord Jesus, we pray that You will prepare the hearts of Your people that will gather in our community for the Sedro Woolley Christmas parade. We ask You to forgive us for putting more emphasis on our worldly blessings and not giving You the honor that You deserve. In Jesus Name, Amen.”

USA – “If you see a brother in need, Nov 12, 2019

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and truth.” 1 John 3:16-18

What a privilege to be in partnership with brothers and sisters in Christ in central Africa that willingly sacrifice, along with their families, every day to reach the lost in these remote communities. Our co-laborer, Charles, who works with different church families to coordinate outreaches in central Uganda, just sent a testimony of an outreach last week in a small community called Wanteete. Fifty adults accepted Jesus and twenty-five came for the discipleship class and were baptized last Sunday. We have four more coordinators from regions in Uganda, the Kenya/South Sudan border and the DRCongo that are waiting to get the sound and video equipment needed to expand their outreaches into the communities in their regions. They not only help with evangelism, but teaching pastors and leaders, strengthening existing church families and helping plant new ones to disciple new believers. It costs us about $3,600 to get the equipment, including generator, that is needed and we provide $150/month to help with transportation costs. Somehow, reading the scripture above we often limit the word “need” to something that simply meets a personal need and not a need that allows a person to unselfishly sacrifice themselves for God’s greater purpose. We petition each of you to prayerfully consider helping these brothers and sisters with their “need”.

If you would like to make a donation, they can be made on line at www.myegiving/hvm or the “electronic giving” on the home page of the www.harvestvisionministries.org website or through PayPal to harvestvision21@msn.com. If you would like to donate electronically but do not have access to the internet or would like someone to assist you, please call George Henson at 360-421-8811 or Kylee Walker at 360-540-0890. To maximize your gift, on donations directly out of a checking or savings account a fee of $.25 is withheld, while credit and debit cards the fee is $.25 + 2.7%. You can also mail donations to Harvest Vision Ministries, PO Box 733, Sedro Woolley, WA, 98284. All donations are tax-deductible and help advance the gospel of Jesus Christ and build His Kingdom.

USA – Harvest Kids with Child’s Evangelism Fellowship, Nov 9, 2019

What a blessed day in the Harvest Home with these amazing young people. Most of the cans that had been donated had already been crushed so we started the morning counting the change that had been donated to support the Harvest Kids next project helping orphaned and vulnerable children in central Africa. They counted and rolled up $132.34. Pr. Martin in Africa is currently praying about where the greatest need is and will let us know soon. We talked about Veteran’s Day and honored that by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and then continued the discussion focusing on the price that Jesus paid for our redemption and how much more we should be grateful for His sacrifice that has given us eternal life.

Lynn, from CEF, shared a wonderful message about thanksgiving using Psalms 92:1
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord. To sing praises to Your Name, O Most High.”
Amazing inter-active ministry, including helping these young people to know all the books of the Bible. Always an amazing simple message about a sovereign God that is in control of everything; omniscient, knowing everything; omni-present, being everywhere and omnipotent, being all powerful and choosing to come and live in us. Afterwards, the kids decorated paper bags and loaded them with dried apple chips, hazelnuts and candy, some from their trick or treat treasure, to be given to the homeless in our community. They finished the afternoon learning to make balloon animals and preparing bags of hazelnuts that will be used to get donations to support the over-all ministry.

USA – Harvest Kids planting trees

Many thanks to Wayne and Cathy for taking these young people to Riverfront Park in Sedro Woolley, WA to help plant trees along the banks of the Skagit River. We have been blessed to join with the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group at different times during the last couple of years to help them in their environmental projects to plant trees along different water ways to prevent erosion here in our community.

“Then God said, ‘Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.’ And it was so. And God saw that it was good.”

(Gen 1:11-13) These young people are being taught to be good stewards of God’s gifts to us as His children and they are making a difference in our community. Pouring our lives into these young people is a great investment for our future and for the kingdom of God. They are “like trees planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.” (Psalm 1:3)

Africa – October testimonies

October was a difficult month doing outreaches in the central Africa region because of an unusual amount of rainfall that kept people from attending the various outreaches. Obviously, the rainfall makes transporting the equipment more difficult, plus the additional burden of trying to protect the equipment and keep it dry. We are thankful, that regardless of these obstacles, our co-laborers were in the field 72 days and coordinated 24 different crusades, seminars and outreaches. Along with the testimonies of deliverances and healings, 1,359 people came to faith in Jesus Christ, including witch doctors and Muslims, and many of them have been baptized. We thank everyone for their prayers and financial support. We are in need of refurbishing 2 generators ($150/each) and replacing an amplifier ($500) and a stabilizer ($80).

If you would like to make a donation, they can be made on line at www.myegiving/hvm.

USA – Smokey Point Rest Area ministry

Many thanks to everyone that helped with cookies and volunteering their time to serve the people that stopped by the Smokey Point Rest Area on I-5 this last weekend. We had over 17 volunteers that shared hours together in fellowship with each other as well as providing a welcome hot cup of coffee or cocoa and a couple of cookies to those that stopped by. There were lots of testimonies of wonderful people and, as usual, the “it’s a small world” as we met people that we knew or people that knew someone we knew or were related to. At 2:15am, two young men stopped in on their way home to Burlington and we ended up talking about Jesus and sharing our faith. One was a professed believer, the other, his friend, just believed that God is a loving God and we only have to be kind and good people and everything would work out. A great time of sharing and fellowship. We had a great conversation and I had the privilege of praying with them before they took off for Burlington at 4:15am. We will be there again this weekend, Nov 1-4. Please contact Linda at 360-421-8811 if you are able to provide some cookies and would like to do a shift at the rest area.

USA – Harvest Kids with Child’s Evangelism Fellowship

What a beautiful day that gave these young people an extra burst of energy to crush every can that had been donated. Afterwards, the kids played the “Harvest Kids“ Jenga game. Every time they successfully remove a block, they read the scripture written on the block. It is a special joy to watch the older kids take the time to help the younger ones that can’t read repeat the scripture out loud. George talked about the new Harvest Kids Animals board. We talked about how special out pets are and that many times we might think that they are the only ones that really care about us. Even the youngest thought we should also know that there are other people that also care about us. We will eventually end up with the “paw or claw” print of all the kid’s pets on a tile on the board. Thanks to Mike and Cathy for putting the board together and for Veronica that is painting the tiles. Afterwards, the kids colored a beautiful drawing that included Proverbs 17:17, “A friend loveth at all times.”

We celebrated all the October birthdays, including everyone in Africa or Mexico, and then enjoyed another fine lunch prepared by Grandma Linda. We are so grateful for Lynn and Christine from Child’s Evangelism Fellowship that come every month with great lessons and inter-active ministry. The lesson today was centered on Proverbs 3:6, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” The lesson and stories are centered around giving everyone a deep understanding of the scripture and how it applies to our daily living. They kids sing it, shout it, repeat it and memorize it. The four young people that came for their first time, had the other kids help put their handprints on the board to ensure they know they are loved and appreciated.

USA – Preparing and equipping the saints,

“We are to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:12-16)

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believer in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved….Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame…..Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in. And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful and the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:9,11,13-15)

We invite each and every one of you to stop and visit with us at the Harvest Home, 9467 Pierce Lane, Sedro Woolley, Tue-Fri, 10am-4pm to fellowship, share, encourage and pray together. We also have Christian DVD’s and books to loan out and watch in the home. We have various gospel tracts and Bibles, new and old testaments, in English and Spanish, available to carry with you in your car, lunch pail and have stashed wherever you might carry them to give out as the Holy Spirit directs. Some of these are small and can easily be carried in your coat pocket so they will be available when the Holy Spirit needs them. Your responsibility isn’t to determine who they will be given to – just obey God and live your life in the “Go!” mode. Even if you have never shared your faith with another, “the will to win (defeat your flesh), is useless without the will to prepare.” Be strong and courageous! The great evangelist, John ‘The Duke” Wayne, once said, “Courage is being afraid but saddling up anyway!” If you need prayer or encouragement we are available 24×7 at 360-421-8811.

At The Rest Area

Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink. I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.” (Matthew 25: 35, 40). We are so thankful to everyone that prays, bakes, buys cookies, drives, brews coffee and tea and shares the love of Jesus to those travelers that stop at the rest area along the interstate. Truck drivers, people traveling to visit family and friends or going to the game or a family that is living in their car, so many times we hear them speak words of gratitude: “I really appreciate you being here.” In a world that is fast-paced and so self-centered, what a shot of encouragement that we have the opportunity to add to a fellow travelers life journey. We are always impressed with the joy of getting to spend the time serving and sharing for one of the 6-hour shifts during the 3 days at the rest area. Deepening relationships or starting new ones. Laughing, crying, playing, sharing God’s Word, praying and sharing life. Just time set apart to have our Father wrap His loving arms around us and be reminded again that, although there is not a physical rest area in this world that can give us the peace that transcends all understanding, Jesus does if we accept Him. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11: 28-29). We will be hosting the rest area the next two weekends, Oct 25-28 and Nov 1-4. Please contact Linda at 360-421-8812 if you would like to help. A great way to spend a few hours with a friend or someone in your family.

Africa – Now is the time of salvation, Oct 11 2019

What an incredible nine months of 2019. That is enough time to birth something new and we are so grateful for our co-laborers that willingly sacrifice to reach these people in remote regions of central Africa. They coordinated another 24 outreaches in September bring the number of total outreaches they have done this year to 298. We were blessed to receive testimonies of 5,133 people that accepted Jesus Christ in September and over 900 of them have already been baptized. They are now all being discipled by local believers in their local church families. We ask that you continue to pray for the harvest and for the 32,896 believers that have entered the kingdom through the outreaches this year. Just a reminder that we ask that our coordinators to share the testimonies of new believers that come into the kingdom as a direct result of using the sound and video equipment so that can be shared with our co-laborers in the USA that provide the financial support for these outreaches. Many more are brought into the kingdom every day through personal testimonies and the outreaches and ministry of the local church families that are not using the Harvest Vision sound and video equipment.
We currently have 3 coordinators in 3 different regions that are waiting for the equipment and support to begin the work in their local area. The equipment for each coordinator is about $3,600 and we then send monthly support of $150. Each coordinator works with anywhere from 50-200 local pastors and church families to help with evangelism, pastor training, church planting and discipleship. Please prayerfully consider becoming a financial partner so we can enlarge the territory and reach more with the good news of Jesus Christ.

USA – Harvest Kids, Oct 12 2019

We thank God for another beautiful day for the Harvest Kids to get together. After crushing a lot of the cans, the kids decided they wanted to make a “CAN choir”. What a wonderful bunch of Jesus loving kids. The kids counted out $22.11 for their Change the World donations. We are currently waiting for Pr. Martin in Africa to tell us which vulnerable children we will reach out to help next. We shared the vision for having the Harvest Kids present the life of Jesus for the children’s Christmas parade that will happen in Sedro Woolley the first Saturday of December and everyone is looking forward to working on this as our Christmas present to Jesus. We shared about the “Harvest Friends” which will compliment the handprints on the walls of everyone that has been a part of the Harvest Kids ministry. The Harvest Friends will be the footprints of all the kid’s pets with the pet’s name and the person that God has entrusted that pet to. After a quick contest of stacking cups we enjoyed a fine lunch that Grandma Linda made and then the kids read the story of Jesus and the disciples crossing the lake and Jesus being asleep during the storm (Mark 4:35-41). Afterward, Caleb and Hailey, were challenged to come up with a skit representing that story. Afterwards, we read the story of Jesus sending His disciples in the boat and then appearing to them on the water and Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33). Then Corbin and Madilyn came up with that skit and presented that to us. We finished the remainder of our time learning to make animal balloons. After the fellowship, Linda showed the girls how to prepare the pumpkins for making pumpkin pancakes in the morning. We are looking forward to the next Harvest Kids on the 4th Saturday, Oct 26th at 10am when we will be having Lynn and Christine from Child’s Evangelism Fellowship sharing with us. We would love to have any young people that you know come and join us. Please call us if you need rides or information. George 360-421-8811, Linda 360-421-8812, Veronica 425-244-2525 or Cathy 360-812-0989.
