A Word from Pastor (Papa) George

USA – Harvest Kids – January 23, 2021

Thanks to everyone that donates cans and prays for these young people in our family that are making such a big difference in our world today. The Harvest Kids crushed aluminum cans in the cold so we can raise money to help vulnerable and orphaned children in Africa. After warming up a bit playing with the parachute, we gathered inside where it was warm and put our pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters in the collection bullet to help build another primary school. The day moved on with putting the handprints on the wall and then celebrating everyone that has a birthday around the world in January. A great time of fellowship as these young people released their own creativity on making up their own dream boards. We are so thankful that these young people are learning to be true disciples by learning it is better to give than to receive and all the “older” Harvest Kids are helping and strengthening their family relationships with one another. Much thanks to Jen who, not only organized the activities, but later spent the evening hosting the Harvest Kids girls sleepover.

USA – The fear of the Lord – January 16, 2021

One of great power, size or importance.

David came to his brothers and the Israelites were shutdown because of the “giant”.

The children of the Israelites were denied their childhood inheritance and lived 40 years in the wilderness because of the “giants” their parents would not face.

USA – The Way, the Truth, the Life – January 15, 2021

Peace. Some believe the road of kindness and good behavior will get you there. Others choose the road of doing religious things. Relying on those roads, however, leads to a dead end. There’s only one road to take to God’s eternal presence. Jesus clarified this when He said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’ (John 14:6). He was revealing that He was going to die to open the way for us to enter His Father’s house – to His presence and the real life He provides for today and eternity. Skip the blocked roads that don’t lead to God’s presence. Instead, trust Jesus as Savior, for ‘whoever believes in the Son has eternal life’.

And for those who already believe in Him, rest in the way He’s provided.

Africa – Open your eyes and look to the fields they are ripe for harvest – January 9, 2021

We are looking forward to the young people that are a part of Harvest Kids being together this morning as they continue to grow in wisdom and stature as true disciples of Jesus Christ and reach out and help vulnerable children and orphans in Africa. They are sending their money to build another primary school for these children in Uganda.

We also just received photos and testimonies from our co-laborers that are supported by our Harvest Vision Ministries partners here in the USA. Pr. Augustine shared the gospel in one of the schools in the DRCongo and 100 students accepted Jesus and 21 were baptized. Pr. Titus reached out to students in a small school and village in the Namaingo District in eastern Uganda and Pr. David ministered to a school in Gulu, in north Uganda and 31 students accepted Jesus. He also ministered to a family in their home in the Nwoya District and 9 family members were saved and at an outreach in Obiya Highland in Gulu, 19 people were saved after God showed Himself through miracles of healing and deliverance.

Jesus said, “Open your eyes and look to the fields. They are ripe for the harvest.”

The World – The human ladder rescued just a babe from the flames – January 9, 2021

Years ago the parsonage at Epworth, England, was on fire. The minister thought that all the family were safe, when suddenly one of the children appeared at a window, crying to be saved. The peasants made a ladder of themselves by standing one upon the other’s shoulders, and in this way the lad was brought to safety. That boy was John Wesley. Had the ladder failed to be made, the destiny of the world would have been different.

But today there is as great a call for human ladders to reach for the souls of men as there was to reach up to the little lad in the flaming building. And the results in the eternal world will be the same as they were when the men saved the boy Wesley.

USA – This little light of mine – January 7, 2021

Even in these challenging times of our faith being tested and strengthening, God’s people continue to bring hope to those that are “broken-hearted and crushed in spirit.” Thanks to those that pray and support our co-laborers in the harvest fields around the world. Just received the testimony of 374 that accepted Jesus in 7 different outreaches in Burundi and 121 have already been baptized. Thanks to those that are reaching out to the unborn, homeless and isolated in their community. Locally, a family had their home burned down and immediately people responded to help. Standing together to support one another, but not at the expense of reaching out to the hungry, thirsty, naked, strangers, sick and in prison and orphans and widows in their distress.

The World – Duty first though the judgement has come – January 7, 2021

The 19th of May, 1788, was a very dark day in Connecticut. Candles were lighted in many houses; the birds went to roost. The people were greatly impressed that the judgement day had come. In the state legislature, at that time in session in Hartford, this opinion prevailed. The house of representatives adjourned, and the council proposed to follow the example.

But Colonel Davenport objected. “The day of judgement,” he said, “is either approaching or it is not. If it is not, there is no cause for an adjournment; if it is, I choose to be found doing my duty. I wish, therefore, that candles may be brought.”

Is not this the spirit that should prompt us in every act that we do? May we so carry out our duty that even the day of judgement, should it arrest our action, will find us doing only that which is right and honorable before men and God.

Truth – The truth and our response – January 3, 2021

We are praying that each of you is finding peace in your life, even though we know that confusion is persistently trying to sabotage our need for fellowship as the Body of Christ. We wanted to just share some truth that is adding to our difficulty in discerning how we are to be the light to the broken hearted and crushed in spirit when we feel that is a relatively good description of our journey of faith in this season of our lives. Please just prayerfully consider why this time is so trying for us all.

Linda and I have been living in the community of Skagit Valley for over 50 years. Over those years I have never met or heard of anyone that wanted to be sick or really get anyone else sick. During those years, people have had flu and flu like symptoms, more in the winter and fall than during the spring and summer. But every day of every year people are trying to stay healthy. Now, we have healthy supplements, prescription and non-prescription drugs and remedies. The difference now, is that people can go to the am-pm, neighborhood grocery stores, Rite-aid, Walgreens, Hometown pharmacy, Safeway, Walmart, Fred Meyers, Costco, Amazon and anywhere to fill up their bags with the medicine they think will help them get over the flu-like symptoms. Hundreds, everyday of the year. From 1970 and all the more every year through to this the present day. Stand at the shelves at any of these places, any time and any day of the year and watch how many people are checking out labels and getting the medicine that they believe might help them. During the time of the Swine flu, H1N1, SARS, every flu down to the common cold that has triggered human responses from the sniffles, pneumonia and even death. What if everyone that felt that they had or could have the actual flu called everyone they had been in contact with, shutdown their business and quarantined from life each time? How does society manage when it has always included almost everyone throughout every year and for many – more than a number of times throughout each year. It has always been the truth, but our response to it was changed in 2020. And everyone has seen the ultimate devastation that is now crippling and destroying families in a way that has never happened before. The truth. God allows it so everyone can make a choice. Do we need any God other than ourselves? The carnal nature of sin is self-preservation. That is the conflicting and hopefully, convicting, truth that can be appealing when we fully embrace the concept that if we are having symptoms of any sickness or know someone that does, we must isolate basis what man dictates.

We must set our course, individually and corporately, to listen and obey, trusting that God will direct our steps.

Africa – DRCongo December testimonies – January 3, 2021

What a blessed day praising God and sharing testimonies of His faithfulness at the Salt & Light fellowship.

A double blessing because as we were praying and preparing for the fellowship, we received the testimonies from Pr. Augustine who coordinates Harvest Vision in the eastern DRCongo. Last week, his home was attacked by rebels with machetes and although they were all left unhurt, they stole most of their personal items. Their everyday lives are filled with violence, uncertainty, disease and persecution. This is his report:

“Gospel for the month of December 2020: On December 2, at the Mont Goma Institute 675 students participated in an outreach and 72 students received Jesus Christ. On December 16, the Mont Goma Institute had 640 students participate in another outreach and 28 students received Jesus Christ. On December 27 in the new temple, 120 people participated and 4 people received Jesus. We baptized 21 people this month.”

The World – Famous families hindering revivals – January 2, 2021

In writing of revivals Dr. Hallock, editor of “The Expositor”, stated, “The following persons with all the members of their families don’t like revivals: Mr. Formality, Mr. Hypocrisy, Mr. Half-Hope, Mr. Guess-So, Mr. Lost-His-Experience, Mr. Worldly-Policy, Mr. Compromise, Mr. Secret-Sin, Mr. Lukewarm, Mr. At-Ease-In-Zion. We do not like to indulge in personalities, but lest some inexperienced revival workers should be alarmed at the opposition which they will meet from these persons we feel that this statement should be made.”

USA – 15 years of the last 44 – December 13, 2020

On December 29th, Linda and I will be celebrating 44 years of marriage that God has given to us and the last 15 of that has been in partnership with our many co-laborers and family in central Africa. What an incredible journey that now includes many from different parts of the USA, different countries, and continents.

What a blessing to share that with the Harvest Kids yesterday, which has touched over 200 in our small community since the kids started helping vulnerable children in Africa 8 years ago. And now they are sending money to build another primary school for their brothers and sisters in Africa. Many in the family, whether in the USA or Africa, are not likely to experience a physical relationship with each other outside of heaven but the love they have been given by God is bigger than distance, language,or skin color. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, said: “What God has put together, let no man separate”. There is a global awareness of evil being felt around the world, but for everyone that is willing to look up they will see one large cross of Jesus Christ looming over this earth and bringing the eternal light of hope to all that believe, and they will hear the voice of our Father say: “These are My Kids – that I love and with whom I am well pleased”.
