Africa – Salvation has come to this house, August 3, 2020

“When Jesus reached the spot, He looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today’. So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost.”

(Luke 19:5-6, 9-10)

Today our “normal” has changed.

The Holy Spirit is reminding us of what we should never have forgotten. Jesus came to abide with us, starting the moment we repent and invite Him in. That journey then is eternal. For the moment, the convenience of having large crusades and buildings filled with people has been disrupted and many believers see why the description of the new testament church (Acts 2:42-47) ends with:

“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Pastor Martin, the director of Harvest Vision Africa, shared testimonies of the many people being saved today.

Although the “meeting in the building” option is not available as it used to be, the Kibuli church family that lives in the ghetto part of Kampala, Uganda are now meeting with 18 different home church families.  There are 36 ministers caring, teaching and helping meet the needs of the new believers. They have just leased a property in the city of Iganga, which is predominantly Muslim and will construct a small shelter and send a team to work out of that place to spread the gospel and start home church families.

“Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift your up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.”

(1 Pt 5:6-9, 2 Pt 3:12)
