"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor My covenant of peace be removed,' says the Lord, who has compassion on you." (Isaiah 54:10)
The questions we are asking about the place we call "home", the people we call "family", the way God "provides", the way we "live in community" -compounded with physical, emotional and mental attacks are all meant to prevent the advancing of the gospel. These things are "allowed" by God, but not "approved" by God. Everything that defines our lives is being challenged. But, God is not satisfied with people that are "challenged", but people that are "changed" because of their repentance that leads to salvation through Jesus Christ, faith in God's plan as revealed in His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.
When David was faced with the giant, he said: "The battle belongs to the Lord!". (1 Sa 17:47)
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph 6:10-12)
"Then the Lord said to Satan, 'Have you considered My servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains integrity, though you incited Me against him to ruin him without any reason.' 'Skin for skin!' Satan replied. 'A man will give all he has for his own life. But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.' The Lord said to Satan, 'Very well, then, he in your hands; but you must spare his life.' So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. Then Job took a piece of pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. His wife said to him, 'Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!' He replied, 'You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?' In all this, Job did not sin in what he said." (Job 2:3-10)
Jesus confirmed Peter, "And I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Mt 16:18-19) and yet later informed him, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brother." (Lk 22:31-32)
After Jesus faced temptation in the wilderness, but resisted by standing on God's Word, scripture says, "When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left Him until an opportune time!"
Let us not be fooled, God knows better than to trust us with His mission. He trusts He that works through us if we are willing to deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Pr 3:5-6)
"This is what the Lord Almighty says: In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory. The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house. And in this place I will grant peace. (Haggai 1:6-9)
