USA – Harvest Kids, Christmas Eve, Dec 24, 2016

It was a little too cold to crush any cans this morning, but we are so thankful to everyone that continues to donate them to help these kids make money to help vulnerable children in Africa. We were blessed to have Matthew & Michael bring hand-made hats that their great grandmother, Harriet, had knitted together for children in Mexico. Linda and George will be taking them next week. The kids had a longer than usual game of Jenga before the blocks finally toppled when that last weak one was removed. It is great, because every block (76) has different verses from the bible and each kid reads their scripture after removing their block. The kids put their change into the bullet and only need 11 ½” to fill it again for the 10th time. Wayne brought a big jar of coins from different countries around the world and each kid picked a coin and committed to lifting up the people in that nation in prayer in these next few weeks. After lunch, we celebrated everyone having a birthday in December and then were blessed to video chat with our team that is spending Christmas in Mexico. We were able to sing Happy Birthday to Victor who is on the team and will be turning 12 on Wednesday. The kids joined hands and prayed for Wayne’s friend, Bob, then sat on the floor with a crib and a doll representing Jesus. Wayne then read the wonderful story of the birth of Jesus in Luke and then everyone took turns holding the doll and saying a prayer of thanks to Jesus. What beautiful things these kids thanked Jesus for. Is it any surprise that the psalmist wrote, “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise because of Your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.” Psalms 8:1-2 The kids finished up trying out the new minature golf sets that were built for children’s ministry in our local community. We are so thankful for Blake & Kylee (Madilyn & Hailey), John & Shannon (Shelby & Ashley) and George (Matthew & Michael) that entrusted their kids to the Lord’s work at Harvest Kids today. Later in the evening, George & Linda were blessed to go by Pilchuck’s Expresso in Granite Falls and the Life Care Center in Sedro Woolley to pick up cans that they have been collecting. Jim Kager, who collects the cans at Life Care is sick and would appreciate your prayers for a speedy recovery. During the morning, some of the kids mentioned classmates and friends at their schools that don’t know Jesus. What a blessing to join with these kids in prayer for their friends to come to know Jesus. A double blessing to share that through their prayers and support, along with many others, over 41,000 people have accepted Jesus so far this year in Africa using the sound and video equipment and that is over 5 people per hour for the entire year. Some of the kids confess they aren’t that good at math, but they sure understand and appreciate those numbers. To God be the glory.
