Harvest kids 10/22/16
What a great harvest kids we had on Saturday! The last harvest Kids we had, we over filled the bullet and even had left over coins. We were interested to see how much all of those coins would weigh and it came to 42 pounds! We had a lot of help from the adults that day and we rolled all the change and took it into the bank! This was the 9th time the kids have filled the bullet and the second highest amount of money we have ever gotten. We got $358! We also had many crushed cans so Cheryl and George took them to Bellingham to turn them in. there was 480 pounds that came to $192. This harvest kids we crushed all the cans we had and filled the bullet with 6 inches of coins! We played a little game of hangman with the verse Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows them that trust in Him.” It was the 4th Saturday so we celebrated all of the October birthdays for our friends all over the world. We had pizza as a treat for filling the bullet and donuts for the birthdays. Rabecca shared a story to the kids about what it would be like a family in America to move to a third world country. It talked about everything we would lose and how little we would have. In America, we take a lot for granted so it was a big eye opener for the kids and even the adults. We spent some time talking about what it would be like to move to a place like Africa or Mexico and then we ended with a fun game of simon says and Bible Trivia. Thank you to all the adults who help us and the kids who participate!
With the money the harvest kids are raising, we have come up with a few projects for everyone to be involved with We are now collecting donations of School supplies: Pencils, rulers, and scissors and Medical supplies: band aids, alcohol swabs, children’s Tylenol, Neosporin. We are also collecting hats, gloves, and socks for the Mexico Christmas team to take with them in December as well as for the local homeless in Skagit County. Donations can be dropped off at the harvest home Tuesday-Friday 10-4 or Harvest Kids on the 2nd and 4th Saturday or Monday/Thursday night at house church. Walker Motor Works is also doing a donation drive for Mexico items until the Christmas team leaves in December. Africa donations can also be dropped off there until November 25th.
