Miguel and Lorena Tapia
Miguel Tapia and his wife, Lorena, moved from San Luis, where they both grew up, to Mexicali for studies and where Miguel worked as an engineer at a glass company. In 1997, they moved to San Luis where he and Lorena started a business. The business failed, leaving them out of money and with a marriage strained to the breaking point.
Miguel says, “I decided to leave my wife and baby. As I was walking out the door, I saw myself in the mirror. I looked like the vilest man in the world. I fell to my knees and began to pray asking Jesus to help me. I said, ‘If You help me to learn to love my family, I will work for You.’ I did not really know what that meant but God did His part and I became a Christian. I was learning and reading the bible. In December of 2006, I began visiting the prison and rehab centers, teaching and praying with those inside. About the same time, I met George and Chris and they invited me to coordinate Harvest Vision’s prison ministry. Now I work as a carpenter and although we are very short of money, these have been the best few years of my life…knowing God like never before!
Miguel is serving as overall Coordinator for the ministry in Mexico and continues to coordinate work in the prison and rehabs.
